Inattention is one of the most common symptoms encountered in clinical psychological evaluations. Inattention includes an inability to focus, to keep instructions in mind or to plan ahead. A child with inattention likely has problems focusing on the content while reading and keeping on-task in class or during homework. This impacts the ability to learn and can lead to academic issues.
Cogmed is an effective and well researched digital therapeutic to improve attention (references listed below). There is a strong connection between attention and working memory and by improving working memory, attention in everyday life is also improved. Cogmed is a method based on the principles of neuroplasticity, specifically targeting the brain areas responsible for attention and working memory.
Cogmed includes 6 weeks (on average) of computerized training that is monitored by Dr. O'Keefe. This program also includes coaching meetings. The executive function skills coaching areas are based on the individual needs of the client, and may include organization habits, time management, self esteem, and relaxation techniques. Our program is virtual and designed to be flexible around your family's schedule. You and your child will be supported throughout the program.
